At WHAH we have a full Idexx Vettest unit. This allows for a rapid turnaround on blood tests in-house without having to wait for an external laboratory.
This means a sick patient can be diagnosed and treated accurately and quickly, both during normal hours and after hours.
Having a Vettest unit means we can offer pets coming in for surgery a pre-anaesthetic blood screen. Having a general anesthetic is a big thing for a pet and their owners. If we can reduce the risk of an anaesthetic by knowing more information before hand, then this makes for a safer procedure.
A pre-anaesthetic blood screen checks the internal health of the pet before they have an anaesthetic. If a problem is picked up we may wish to defer the surgery or take extra precautions during the surgery, thus reducing the risk to your pet.

At WHAH we have a full dental base (yes, just like the one your dentist uses). Our patients are lucky as they are asleep when they have a dental, so they don’t have to hear that “drilling noise” that we all dread!
A dental may be just a routine clean (scale and polish) to keep those teeth sparking white. A more involved procedure may require tooth extractions.
Whatever the dental procedure, using a dental base means we can do it faster and more effectively. This means our patients spend less time under anaesthetic.
